Therapeutic breath-work

On my quest to self-discovery- I came across a technique called conscious breathing. It is a simple process and one of the greatest health discoveries I have ever come across. Conscious breathing can improve circulation in your body, increase energy levels, reduce stress, increase awareness, improve oxygenation of various organs and increases the bodies P.H levels, which rectifies the acidity in the body. Conscious breathing was incredibly easy to implement in my daily life and when I tried some of the techniques I found that my anxiety, internal stress, and worry vanished completely.

Here are a few of the techniques that generally bring me a sense of peace.

The first step in the process should be done daily and preferably in the morning.
Breathe in through your nose and exhale through your nose, breathe in through your nose again and exhale through your mouth, inhale through your mouth and exhale through your nose and finally inhale through your mouth and exhale through your mouth.

5 – 7 breath

Sit down in a comfortable chair

Breathe in slowly through your nose for 7 seconds

Hold your breath for 5 seconds

Breathe out through your nose for 7 seconds

Hold your breath for another 5 seconds.

Do this a few times until you feel calmer and more relaxed. You could also do this while walking and use the number of steps you take as a count through the process.

Heart and mind anchor

Breathe in through your nose until you feel the air in your stomach.
Hold the breath for 5 seconds, and then breathe out through your nose.
Do this very slowly while focusing all of your attention on your heart. Continue the process until you feel calm and blissful.

I began doing this for 1 minute, 2 minutes, and then in time, I began to do it for 10 minutes a day. This process always brings me an amazing sensation of calmness and peace.

Rapid breath of fire

This technique is a Yoga breathing technique and is an amazing tool that fights against anxiety, nerves, fears, pain, and depression. (Please do not try this If you are pregnant or in the first 2 days of your menstrual cycle)

Breathe in and out of your nose at a fast pace, as fast as 2 to 3 times per second and as loud as you can. Do this for 15 to 30 seconds at a time.

Slow breath

Breathe in through your nose for seven seconds, breathe out through your nose for seven seconds, hold your breath for 2 seconds. Do this for 5 minutes.

Energy movement

Breathe in through your nose and immediately breathe out through your mouth, do this for 3 minutes.

Practice these exercises daily, repetition is the key to success.
